| Speaker | Chin Nyuk Tin is a PhD candidate at Nanyang Technological University, currently researching translation studies of Peranakan Chinese-Malay literature in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia. She holds a bachelor's degree in Chinese Literature from National Taiwan Normal University and a master's in Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature from Fudan University. Chen has received accolades such as the Seagull Youth Literature Award, Fang Xiu Literature Award, and Nanda Microfiction Award. She was also a researcher for the inaugural Lingling Wiyadharma Fellowship at Leiden University in the Netherlands. Her research interests include Chinese-Malay translation, Malaysian Chinese literature, and Southeast Asian Chinese history. |

| Content Overview | Translator studies has emerged in recent years as a sub-discipline within translation studies. This book offers concepts and methodologies pertinent to translator studies, aiming to construct relevant theories and deepen readers' understanding of the field. Divided into four sections, it primarily introduces translator-centered research methods, including historical-biographical studies, social-scientific and process-oriented approaches, and methods utilizing paratexts or translations to study literary translators. Unlike earlier focuses in translation studies, translator studies adopts a humanistic perspective, viewing translators not as mechanized units but as unique individuals. This book allows us to explore various cultural, social, and psychological facets within the translation discipline, helping to significantly expand its academic content. |
