Crossing Region and Inter-discipline Graduate International Conference
Institute of International Education of New Era University College held "Crossing Region and Inter-discipline Graduate International Conference" on February 24th and 25th. The symposium featured research presentations on topics including Sinology, cultural studies, contemporary China, business management, and literature. Participating graduate students came from countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and China.
The organizing committee also invited Dr. Lee Kean Yew, Associate Researcher from the Department of Chinese Studies at the University of Malaya, to serve as the keynote speaker for a workshop. Dr. Lee delivered a lecture titled 'From Retrieval to Publication: The Perfect Process from Academic Journal Search to Paper Submission', guiding students on discerning different core journal directories and emphasizing key concepts and issues to consider when publishing papers in core journals based on students' respective fields and needs. Another presenter was Associate Professor Wang Zhaohui from the School of International Relations and the Nanyang Institute at Xiamen University, who shared methods for integrating different research perspectives and objectives among graduate students.
This conference attracted 37 graduate students from various countries, presenting research topics spanning Sinology, education, art studies, cultural studies, contemporary China, business management, linguistics, and literature. Due to the nature of the symposium being transregional and transdisciplinary, Associate Professor Wang Zhaohui from the Nanyang Institute at Xiamen University delivered a keynote speech titled 'The Hedgehog and the Fox: Tension and Integration between Regional Studies and Social Science Theories', sharing how researchers can integrate different research perspectives and methods to balance the depth and breadth of research.
Associate Professor Dr Tey Shi Bin also expressed that this event was planned and executed by the Institute of International Education of New Era University College, aiming to provide domestic and international graduate students with a platform for mutual exchange and interaction, assisting them in laying an academic foundation. Through expert critiques of presenters, the symposium facilitated in-depth exchanges between graduate students and academic scholars, promoting intellectual collisions and innovation.
In addition to academic exchanges with keynote speakers and expert reviewers on the theme, the symposium also aimed to teach graduate students how to publish research findings effectively. Institute of International Education of New Era University College actively promotes international academic exchanges, providing graduate students with diverse learning platforms.
