Chinese Ambassador Scholarship

There are a total of 20 students benefited from the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship funded by the Embassy of The People's Republic of China in Malaysia. Each beneficiary received RM3000 grants from the Embassy.

Most of these students are facing a financial crises. Some of their parents even lost their job due to the pandemic, and the funds provided by the Embassy of The People's Republic of China in Malaysia helped the students and their families in reducing their financial burden. A million thanks to the Embassy for their support and their timely help.

The beneficiaries come from all academic programmes in New Era University College, including students pursuing the Information Computing Technology, Media Studies, Chinese Language and Literature, Guidance and Counselling Psychology, Drama and Visuals, and Education professions. Best wishes to these students to continuously hold a positive learning attitude even at this difficult time.

Beneficiaries of the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship, New Era University College.

The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Malaysia has offered a RM65,000 "Chinese Ambassador's Bursary" to the underprivileged students of New Era University College to alleviate the financial stress of tuition fees and living expenses due to the epidemic. "The Chinese Ambassador's Bursary Presentation Ceremony will be held on 17 November 2021 at 3 pm.

Attendees included Ambassador Ouyang Yujing and Education Counsellor Zhao Changtao from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Malaysia, President of New Era University College Mok Soon Chong, Vice President Voon Phin Keong, Vice President Lee Kam Hing, Director of Institute of International Education Tey Shi Bin, heads of academic and administrative departments, staff and beneficiary students.

The "Chinese Ambassador's Bursary" is based on the student's family income, family financial burden, the ratio of the number of family members to family income, and the proportion of the student's remaining tuition fees to the amount of available subsidies. A total of 28 underprivileged students were awarded grants, from which funds were also allocated to purchase and upgrade daily necessities for returning to campus.

The beneficiaries include 林妤璐、滕秀怡、蔡慈恩、邱凯燕、梅婉莹、张温怡、叶竞鸿、萧翊彤、戴紫莹、黄菁慧、赖心蓉、罗佩雯、曾慧欣、叶耀龙 and 曾依娃 who received full scholarships of RM3,000; 钟晓莹、邱慧敏、魏骏汶、郑芷凌、林千惠、吴宇萱、吴子统、邓嘉慧 and 梁洺瑄 who received half scholarships of RM1,500. and those who were awarded RM300 for back-to-school supplies, namely 林丽虹、村尾福隆、张嘉瑜 and 谢孜善.

Vice-Chancellor Mok Soon Choong expressed his gratitude for the assistance with the Malay proverb "hutang emas boleh dibayar, hutang budi dibawa mati", which warmed the hearts of both the students and the school. In closing, he also wished for a long-lasting friendship between China and Malaysia with the words "Semoga persahabatan antara China dan Malaysia akan kekal selama-lamanya".

Ambassador Ouyang Yujing said that the Chinese Embassy has always valued youth exchanges and educational exchanges between China and Malaysia. Last year, for the first time, the Chinese Ambassador's Bursary was set up at New Era University College to support 20 students, and this year, the number was increased to 28 students, thus enabling more students' families to benefit from the warmth of Sino-Malaysian friendship. In the future, the Chinese Embassy will be providing more platforms for exchange and communication with students at New Era University College, and hope that students will seize the opportunity to learn more about Chinese youths, gain friendships and grow together, and become ambassadors of Sino-Malaysian friendship.

林妤璐, a student representative of the Chinese Ambassador's Bursary, said that the bursary not only relieved the financial burden of their parents but also encouraged them to study hard with a grateful heart and be a useful person to society in the future to repay the love and care of everyone.

The Chinese Ambassador's Bursary Award Ceremony for New Era University College 2021 was successfully held. New Era University College would like to thank the Chinese Embassy for their kind attention and support to the students of the College, which has enabled them to pursue their studies with peace of mind and hopefully contribute to the development of the country and friendship between Malaysia and China in the future.

In 2022, the "Chinese Ambassador Scholarship" sponsored by the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia for New Era University College has reached its third year. This year's list of awardees was announced on November 30, 2022. A total of 33 students have been selected for this scholarship, with each receiving RM 2,000, totalling RM 66,000. We express our heartfelt gratitude for the generous support from the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia!

In our review process, we considered the following criteria:

  1. Academic performance
  2. Family income
  3. Remaining tuition fees for the students to complete studies and existing subsidies
  4. Willingness to participate in social welfare activities, especially activities that promote friendly exchanges between Malaysia and China.

The 33 recipients of the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship are enrolled in various programs at New Era University College, including Education, Information Technology, Media Studies, Drama and Visuals, Chinese Language and Literature, Business, Finance, and Accounting.

We hope that all students can strive for excellence and sustain their unwavering pursuit of knowledge.

The list of recipients for the "Embassy of the People’s Republic of China Ambassador Scholarship" for the academic year 2023 has been released. A total of 42 students received the scholarship, amounted to RM 65,600. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the China Embassy in Malaysia for their continued support.

In our review process, we considered the following the criteria of family income, academic performance, remaining tuition fees for the students to complete studies, existing subsidies, and willingness to participate in social welfare activities, especially activities that promote friendly exchanges between Malaysia and China. We believe this scholarship will benefit the recipients by motivating them to overcome challenges, maintain a positive attitude, and engage actively in learning.

As part of New Era University College's 25th-anniversary celebrations, the scholarship award ceremony was held at the 25th-anniversary gala dinner on Sunday, November 19. We are honored to invite Ambassador Ouyang Yujing to present awards to the recipients of year 2022 and 2023. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the embassy has established the "Chinese Ambassador Scholarship" at New Era for 4 consecutive years, supporting over 100 students. This initiative has allowed everyone to tangibly feel the warmth brought by the Sino-Malaysian friendship. Ambassador Ouyang Yujing expressed that the embassy will continue to care for and support the students, striving to create opportunities for extensive exchanges and interactions between the Chinese people and the Malaysian populace, especially the youth. He looks forward to more Malaysian youth getting involved in cultural exchanges between China and Malaysia, fostering deeper cooperation between the countries in the future.
