The Institute of International Education (IIE) was established on April 2019, as an academic - cum - administrative unit of New Era University College (NEUC). Associate Professor Dr. Tey Shi Bin, the former Deputy Head of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, was appointed by Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Mok Soon Chong as the Dean of IIE to develop international markets. Dr Tey graduated from the Classical Philology program at China's Huazhong Normal University under the guidance of Dr. Zhang Sanxi, a disciple of Zhang Shunhui. In the establishment of the IIE, Dr Tey incorporated elements from China institutional frameworks and drew inspiration from renowned universities such as the University of Malaya and the National University of Singapore. This meticulous approach ensured that the school's systems for international students and postgraduates set a high standard, emphasizing quality while accommodating a substantial student population. - The composition at first glance resembles a flower and a bird, signifying lightness and happy flight, with our students flying out and foreign students flying in, to develop more cross-cultural exchanges.
- The pink peach color of the logo is taken from the red color of the logo of New Era, which is a variation of the color, signifying that the Institute of International Education will live up to the expectations of the university: reform, innovation and breakthrough, ushering in new development, new opportunities and new hopes.
- The blue color of the logo is taken from the blue color of the New Era's logo, symbolizing that all colleagues in the Institute of International Education drink water and think of the source, always think of New Era, take from New Era, use from New Era, and work together with all colleagues in New Era for the benefit of students.
