The speaker Dr. Ding Ruichang will discuss the academic connotations of global education governance, as well as analyse the mechanisms and nature of major international organizations that participate in global education governance. Dr. Ding will also discuss the challenges that global education governance organizations face. |

Dr. Ding Ruichang (Lecturer, Institute of International and Comparative Education, Beijing Normal University) Dr. Ding Ruichang holds a Ph.D. in Education, jointly conferred by Beijing Normal University and the Teachers College of Columbia University. He is currently a lecturer at the Institute of International and Comparative Education at Beijing Normal University, where he also serves as a graduate supervisor. Dr. Ding has participated in academic exchanges in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, Finland, Singapore, and Mexico. His research focuses primarily on education policies of international organizations, global education governance, and international and comparative education. He has been involved in over 10 research projects in these areas. Dr. Ding has contributed to several large-scale educational works, including The Great Dictionary of Education, The Encyclopedia of Global Education, and A Comprehensive History of Foreign Education. He has authored two academic monographs and published over 40 papers in academic journals in both Chinese and English. |

Dr. Wong Shwu Huey (Associate Professor in the Department of Education at New Era University College) Dr. Wong Shwu Huey holds a Ph.D. in Education from Central China Normal University. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Education at New Era University College and serves as a supervisor for both master’s and doctoral students. She is also the editor-in-chief of the academic journal Education and Teaching Research. Her main research interests include curriculum and instruction, teacher education, education and social culture, as well as Chinese and Chinese language education. She has edited works such as Theories and Practices of Chinese Language Teaching in Malaysia, Special Issue on Chinese Language Teaching for the 10th Anniversary of the Department of Education at New Era University College, Chinese Language Teaching and Research, and Chinese Education and Instruction. Dr. Wong has published numerous academic papers in prominent national and international journals, publications, and at international academic conferences. Additionally, she has delivered many Chinese-language presentations abroad and conducted over 100 in-service teacher training courses and lectures in China. |

The 10th session of the "Tan Lark Sye Lecture Series," organized by the Institute of International Education, New Era University College (IIE, NEUC) and the Tan Lark Sye Institute, was held on 30th August 2022. The guest speakers for this event was Dr. Ding Ruichang from Beijing Normal University. It was attended by more than 200 people.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Ding Ruichang, holds a Ph.D. in Education jointly awarded by Beijing Normal University and Columbia University's Teachers College. He is currently a lecturer and graduate advisor at the Institute of International and Comparative Education at Beijing Normal University. Dr. Ding has participated in academic exchanges in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, Finland, Singapore, and Mexico. His research focuses on areas such as the education policies of international organizations, global education governance, and international and comparative education, and he has undertaken more than ten related research projects.
This lecture was titled “Mechanisms and Challenges of International Organizations’ Participation in Global Education Governance.” He compared the education systems of China and other countries, explored the academic connotations of global education governance, analyzed the mechanisms and nature of the participation of major international organizations in global education governance, and shared insights on the challenges faced by these organizations. The event was moderated by Dr. Wong Shwu Huey from NEUC, and included discussions between participants and Dr. Ding on the topic of education governance.
