Delegation from Nantong Chiziqing Overseas Chinese Library
On 12 October 2026, a delegation led by Zhen Xiang, former Vice Chairman of the Jiangsu Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and founder of the Nantong Chiziqing Overseas Chinese Library, visited the Tan Lark Sye Library at New Era University College (NEUC) for an exchange visit.
The visit aimed to explore potential collaboration in areas such as library resource sharing, cultural promotion and academic exchange, with a view to further promoting Chinese culture and fostering exchanges and cooperation between libraries.
During the meeting, representatives from both sides introduced their respective development, library facilities and key areas of operation, followed by in-depth discussions on future collaboration. Both sides expressed their hope of expanding cooperation through resource sharing and complementary strengths, further enhancing connectivity and access to library resources.
Prior to the meeting, the delegation toured the Tan Lark Sye Library and Nantah Resource Centre under the guidance of Brenda Choo Ly Er, Chief Librarian of the Tan Lark Sye Library. The visit provided the delegation with a deeper understanding of NEUC's educational philosophy, founding background, and library collections.
The visiting delegation included Zhen Xiang (former Vice-Chairman of the Jiangsu Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and Founder of the Overseas Chinese Library), Chen Yun (Executive Director, Overseas Chinese Library), Ji Aimin (Office Director, Overseas Chinese Library), Xu Chongming (Deputy Office Director, Overseas Chinese Library), Chen Suying (Advisor, Overseas Chinese Library), Huang Yin (Head of the English Teaching and Research Section, School of International Cooperation and Education, Nantong Vocational University), and Yap Lee Peng (Malaysia Correspondent, China International News Magazine). Representing NEUC were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tey Shi Bin (Deputy Vice-Chancellor, International and Corporate Development), Brenda Choo Ly Er (Chief Librarian, Tan Lark Sye Library), Asst. Prof. Dr. Ng Khai Boon (Head, International Academic Exchange Office, Institute of International Education), Yap Seow Yu (Head, Language and Intercultural Centre, Institute of International Education), and Chok Yu Xian (Education Programme Specialist, Institute of International Education).
