Malaysia Food Treasure Hunt: Discovering Malaysia Through Food and Culture

On 3 October 2026, the Institute of International Education and the Student Affairs Department of New Era University College jointly organized the International Student Thematic Exchange Programme, “Malaysia Food Treasure Hunt.” More than 50 international students gathered at the Ng Ah Choo Multipurpose Hall and transformed into “food explorers” for a fun-filled journey to discover Malaysia’s diverse culinary traditions!

Centered around the theme “Exploring Malaysian Food Through the Five Senses,” the programme featured eight interactive stations. Working in teams, students took on a series of fun challenges that engaged their sight, hearing, sense of smell and touch. Through these activities, they discovered the rich and diverse food culture of Malaysia while learning about the culinary traditions of its different communities.

Adding to the excitement, students from the university’s Cultural TGD Team took on the role of station facilitators, guiding participants through each challenge and sharing interesting insights into Malaysian food and culture. Together, they created a lively and engaging environment for students to learn, interact and make new connections.

Food brings cultures to life, and shared experiences bring people closer.

This was more than just a treasure hunt for food. From station to station, students discovered the flavours, stories and cultural diversity that make Malaysia truly special.
