New Era University College and Maanshan Technical College Collaborate on Hui Cuisine Culinary Training Programme
From 24 to 28 August 2026, two culinary instructors from Maanshan Technical College visited New Era University College (NEUC) to conduct a five-day Hui Cuisine Skills Training Programme for nearly 50 students. The programme further promoted exchange and collaboration between the two institutions in vocational education, professional teaching, and talent development.
The Hui Cuisine Skills Training Programme was conducted under the framework of the Malaysia Huijiang Workshop, jointly established by New Era University College and Maanshan Technical College. The instructors from Maanshan Technical College were Associate Professor Huang Wei, Head of the Culinary Programme and Senior Practical Training Instructor, and Mr. Xue Bin, Head of the Culinary Teaching and Research Section and First-Class Practical Training Instructor. Drawing on their extensive teaching and practical experience, the two instructors guided students in learning the techniques of Hui cuisine and traditional Chinese pastry-making through live demonstrations and hands-on practical sessions.
The training covered the preparation of a variety of distinctive Hui dishes, Chinese cuisine and traditional Chinese pastries. Under the guidance of the instructors, students gained hands-on experience in traditional Chinese culinary techniques, ranging from ingredient preparation and cooking methods to the presentation of finished dishes. Through the programme, they also developed a deeper understanding of the distinctive characteristics and cultural significance of Hui cuisine.
A highlight of the programme was the “Huijiang in Nanyang” Huizhou Specialties Food Tasting Event, where five participating students had the opportunity to put their newly acquired skills into practice and showcase the outcomes of their training to the guests.
The visit by the instructors from Maanshan Technical College not only provided valuable professional learning and practical opportunities for New Era University College students, but also enabled them to experience the rich cultural heritage and unique charm of Chinese culinary traditions. Moving forward, New Era University College will continue to strengthen educational collaboration with institutions both locally and internationally, while promoting the sharing of teaching resources and professional exchanges among higher education institutions.
