New Era University College and Huainan Union University Collaborate on “Chinese Language + Livestream E-Commerce” Skills Training Programme
From 9 to 15 August 2026, three lecturers from Huainan Union University visited New Era University College (NEUC) and actively participated in a range of teaching and exchange activities throughout the week. They delivered a specialised lecture and professional skills training sessions for students from NEUC and the Institute of Vocational and Continuing Education (NEIVCE), further expanding collaboration between the two institutions in education, teaching, and talent development.
Prof. Dr. Mok Soon Chong, Vice-Chancellor of NEUC, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tey Shi Bin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International & Corporate Development) of NEUC, extended a warm welcome to the lecturers from Huainan Union University. During their visit, the lecturers actively participated in a range of teaching and exchange activities. Among them, Professor Ma Ying, Dean of the School of Humanities and Foreign Languages at Huainan Union University, delivered a specialised lecture to NEUC faculty members and students titled “From ‘Black Tea’ to ‘Green Mountains’: Repainting the Colours of Chinese Poetry in Nanyang — English Translation of Chinese Colour Terms and Reader Response from the Perspective of Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory.” The lecture enhanced students’ understanding of Chinese-English translation and the dissemination of Chinese culture.
In addition, Prof. Wu Rong Mei and Assoc. Prof. Zhang Xiao Yan from the School of Economics and Management conducted the “Huainan Union University Malaysia Huijiang Workshop: Chinese Language + Livestream E-Commerce Skills Training Programme” for students from NEIVCE. Through professional instruction and practical activities, students gained knowledge and practical skills in livestream e-commerce.
The cross-border teaching activities not only broadened students’ learning horizons but also provided a valuable platform for faculty members from both institutions to engage in academic and professional exchange. Moving forward, the two institutions will continue to explore diverse models of international educational collaboration, promote the sharing of teaching resources and complementary strengths, and provide students with more opportunities for learning and professional practice.
