NEUC Signs Memorandum of Understanding with the Committee for the Dissemination of Sinology Culture to Advance Sinology and Educational Collaboration

On 27 July 2026, a delegation from the Committee for the Dissemination of Sinology Culture, Chinese Culture Promotion Society visited New Era University College for an exchange session. Both parties held in-depth discussions on the development of a Master of Education programme, the international dissemination of Sinology, the application of artificial intelligence in education, and international collaboration in promoting Chinese culture.

During the meeting, both parties introduced their respective educational philosophies, academic strengths, and the student development initiatives, while expressing a shared commitment to strengthening international educational collaboration and resource sharing. 

The discussions focused primarily on the proposed Master of Education in Chinese as a Second Language programme to be offered by New Era University College. Both sides exchanged views on the programme structure, training objectives, and the design of distinctive courses. In addition, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions regarding the integration of artificial intelligence, intercultural communication, the international dissemination of Sinology and new media communication into the curriculum, which would help develop a forward-looking programme with a global perspective. They also explored potential collaboration in modular curriculum design, online learning platforms, and the development of educational products to further enhance the quality of talent cultivation.

Before the conclusion of the meeting, both parties officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)  marking a significant milestone in strengthening their collaborative partnership. The delegation then gathered for a group photograph in the meeting room at New Era University College and exchanged commemorative gifts, further reinforcing the friendship and laying a solid foundation for future cooperation.

The visiting delegation included  Zhang Jian (Director, Chinese Sinology Center and Committee for the Dissemination of Sinology Culture, Chinese Culture Promotion Society), Ms. Hao Yongchao (Deputy Secretary-General, Committee for the Dissemination of Sinology Culture, Chinese Culture Promotion Society and Head, Research Office of the Chinese Sinology Center) and Dr. Chang Chin Yuen (Senior Advisor, Committee for the Dissemination of Sinology Culture, Chinese Culture Promotion Society).

Representatives from New Era University College included Prof. Dr. Mok Soon Chong (Vice-Chancellor), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tey Shi Bin (Deputy Vice-Chancellor, International and Corporate Development), Asst. Prof. Dr. Ng Khai Boon (Head, International Academic Exchange Office, Institute of International Education), Lee Yun Xin (Head, Department of  Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, Institute of International Education), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wong Wai Shee (Head, Department of Chinese Studies, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences) and Yap Huai Jin (Education Programme Specialist, Institute of International Education).
