New Era University College Successfully Concludes Study Programme at Jinan Engineering Polytechnic, China

From 28 June to 3 July 2026, a study delegation from New Era University College successfully completed a six-day cultural learning and exchange programme at Jinan Engineering Polytechnic in Jinan, Shandong, China. Through thematic learning sessions, cultural visits, and exchange activities, the study programme aimed to enhance students' interdisciplinary knowledge and skills, broaden their international perspectives, deepen their understanding and appreciation of the rich heritage of traditional Chinese culture, and further promote the integration of language learning, skills development, and cultural exchange.

A total of 19 current NEUC students and 4 accompanying staff members participated in the programme, including Asst. Prof. Dr. Alexander Tay Guan Meng (Head of the Department of Business Management), Tan Ming Ming (Deputy Head of the Department of Innovation and Technology, Institute of Vocational and Continuing Education), Lam Gian Mei (Deputy Head of the Department of Creative Media and Beauty Studies, Institute of Vocational and Continuing Education) and Que Jan Voon (Education Programme Specialist, Institute of International Education).
 

🎓Exploring Diverse Learning Experiences

Participants visited specialised training facilities, including those of the Schools of Rail Transit, Automotive Engineering, Business Management, and Civil Engineering and observed professional classes at Jinan Engineering Polytechnic, gaining first-hand insights into China's vocational education system, teaching practices, and learning approaches.
 

🤝 Strengthening Malaysia-China Cultural Exchange

Students and faculty from both institutions engaged in cultural and sports activities that encouraged meaningful interaction and strengthened friendships. The programme also gave many participants their first opportunity to experience life and learning in China, broadening their global perspectives and deepening their understanding of Chinese culture and society.
 

🏛️ Exploring Jinan's Rich Cultural Heritage

The programme also included cultural visits to the Shandong Museum, Daming Lake, Hualin Garden, and Huanlian Night Market, offering students first-hand experiences of Jinan's history, cultural heritage, and local life. These activities enriched their understanding of Chinese civilisation and strengthened their appreciation of China's cultural diversity.
 

🌟 A Meaningful Learning Journey

The programme concluded with a certificate presentation ceremony, where students and faculty celebrated the successful completion of the study programme.

Throughout the six-day experience, participants strengthened their academic knowledge, intercultural competencies, and global perspectives through classroom learning, campus engagement, and cultural exploration. Beyond academic achievement, the programme fostered lasting friendships and created meaningful cross-cultural experiences that will remain a memorable part of their learning journey.
