【Understanding China · Experiencing Jiangsu】2026 Overseas Youth Student Programme in Jiangsu Successfully Concluded....

The 2026 “Understanding China · Experiencing Jiangsu” Overseas Youth Student Programme was successfully held from 26 June to 2 July. The programme was organized by The Federation of Jiangsu Returned Overseas Chinese, guided by the Jiangsu Association for Friendship and International Exchanges, supported by the Jiangsu Cultural Development Foundation, and hosted by the Nanjing and Xuzhou Federations of Returned Overseas Chinese, with co-organization by Nanjing Tech University.

A total of 11 staff and students from New Era University College had the privilege to participate in this programme, joining youth participants from the United States, Bangladesh, Algeria, Thailand and Malaysia in Jiangsu for a cross-cultural exchange journey connecting friendship and understanding.

During the programme, participants visited Nanjing and Xuzhou, engaging in thematic learning activities under “Civilizational Exchange & Intangible Cultural Heritage Innovation,” “Cultural Tourism Integration & Jiangsu’s Scenic Rivers,” and “Innovation & Entrepreneurship in the Digital Era.” They also visited universities, historical and cultural sites, industrial parks, rural revitalization areas, and intangible cultural heritage venues, gaining a comprehensive understanding of Jiangsu’s rich cultural heritage and dynamic development.

Throughout the journey, students not only visited campuses and enterprises, but also actively interacted with international peers and local university students. Through communication, they deepened mutual understanding, broadened their perspectives, and experienced China while exploring Jiangsu. This program further enhanced their cross-cultural communication and international engagement skills, while also fostering valuable friendships.

This experience not only created lasting memories but also allowed the seeds of cross-cultural exchange to quietly grow among participants.

Students visited the Nanjing Blue-and-White Porcelain Ceramic Art Experience Center, participated in the traditional Touhu (pitch-pot) activity symbolizing success and academic achievement, and experienced the charm of Chinese traditional culture.
Students visited the Nanjing Iron and Steel Museum to learn about the development of China's steel industry and witness the achievements of the country's industrial transformation and innovation.
Students visited the History Museum of Nanjing Tech University to learn about the University's development and appreciate its cultural heritage and spirit of innovation.
Faculty members and students of Nanjing Tech University guided the students in experiencing hand lion dance, ribbon dragon dance, and Baduanjin, deepening their appreciation of Chinese cultural heritage.
Students visited the Guishan Han Tomb in Xuzhou to learn about the mausoleum culture of the Chu Kings during the Han Dynasty and explore the historical legacy of Chinese civilization.
Students participated in an intangible cultural heritage experience activity, making dumplings to appreciate Chinese culinary culture and traditional craftsmanship.
Students from our university attended the closing ceremony in traditional Malaysian attire, showcasing the beauty of multiculturalism and bringing the exchange programme to a successful conclusion.
