Delegation from Yuxi Normal University
On 10 June 2026, a delegation led by Prof. Dr. Jiang Jiaxiong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Yuxi Normal University, visited New Era University College (NEUC), and was welcomed on behalf of the University by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tey Shi Bin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Corporate Development) cum Dean, Institute of International Education (IIE). The purpose of this visit was to conduct in-depth exchanges through an on-site inspection, explore more potential areas of cooperation, strengthen multilateral cooperative relations, and further promote educational exchanges and development between Malaysia and China.
During the meeting, representatives from both institutions introduced their respective educational backgrounds, current developments, and future plans. They also engaged in constructive discussions on future collaboration opportunities, focusing on potential areas of cooperation such as joint academic programme development and academic exchanges. Both institutions expressed their aspiration to strengthen collaboration through a wider range of cooperative initiatives, leverage their respective strengths, and jointly advance the internationalisation of higher education, thereby injecting new momentum into regional educational cooperation and people-to-people exchanges across Asia.
Following the meeting, the delegation, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tey Shi Bin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of NEUC, toured the teaching and learning facilities, including visits to the Faculty of Creative Arts NEUC and the New Era Institute of Vocational and Continuing Education (NEIVCE), to gain a better understanding of the NEUC's distinctive educational approach and achievements in talent cultivation.
Prior to the meeting, led by Mr. Lee, the delegation from Yuxi Normal University visited the Tan Lark Sye Library and the Nantah Resource Centre to gain deeper insights into NEUC’s educational philosophy, founding background, and the development of Chinese education in Malaysia.
Representatives from Yuxi Normal University consisted of Prof. Dr. Yang Bo, Dean of the College of Engineering, Ms. Wu Xiaoying, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Prof. Dr. Li Huaizhen, Vice Dean of the College of Mathematics and Physics, and Mr. Song Shubing, Vice Dean of the College of Teacher Education. The representatives from NEUC included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tey Shi Bin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Corporate Development) cum Dean of the Institute of International Education (IIE); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lew Siew Boon, Assistant Dean of IIE; Lee Hong Yi and Ther Hui Yi, Education Programme Specialist of IIE.
