NEUC and Northwest Normal University Sign Memorandum of Cooperation
On 26 May 2026, a delegation from Northwest Normal University visited New Era University College (NEUC) for an exchange session, during which both institutions discussed projects related to international Chinese language education cooperation and joint talent cultivation.
The visiting delegation included Professor Wang Wensheng (Vice President, Northwest Normal University), Professor Tian He (Director, International Cooperation and Exchange), Professor Li Li (Dean, International Cultural Exchange Institute) and Professor Bai Zhongxing (Deputy Director, International Cooperation and Exchange).
Representatives from NEUC included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lew Siew Boon (Assistant Dean, Institute of International Education), Lee Yun Xin (Head, Department of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, Institute of International Education), Yap Seow Yu (Head, Language and Intercultural Centre, Institute of International Education) and Chin Wai Ching (Education Programme Specialist, Institute of International Education).
During the meeting, both parties introduced their respective educational philosophies, academic strengths and the student development initiatives, while expressing a shared commitment to strengthening international educational collaboration and resource sharing. Discussions focused on several key initiatives, such as the “Chinese Language Education Community” project, integrated Bachelor’s–Master’s–Doctoral joint training programmes and short-term study camps. In addition, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions and reached preliminary consensus on various areas of cooperation, such as the establishment of overseas internship and practicum bases, scholarship programmes, faculty exchange visits and student mobility initiatives. reaching preliminary consensus on several areas of cooperation.
Furthermore, Northwest Normal University expressed its intention to further collaboration with the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, as well as other arts-related disciplines at NEUC to promote interdisciplinary academic and cultural exchange. Both institutions also explored the future possibilities for collaboration in areas such as institutional partnership recognition and the development of international Chinese language education platforms, in order to further promote the dissemination and development of Chinese culture in the Southeast Asian region.
Before the conclusion of the meeting, both parties officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), symbolising a new milestone in the friendly partnership between the two institutions. Following the meeting, representatives from both universities took a group photograph at the meeting room of the Institute of International Education, NEUC, and exchanged souvenirs as a gesture to further strengthen mutual friendship and lay a stronger foundation for future collaboration.
