Lama International Donates RM 200,000 to NEUC to Support Digitalization and AI Education in Malaysian Chinese Schools

On 23 January 2026, representatives from Lama International Universal Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. donated RM 200,000 to New Era University College (NEUC) to support the college’s research and initiatives in digitalization and AI-enabled teaching.

On the same day, representatives from both parties, together with external education consultants, launched the “Survey on Digitalization and AI Teaching Applications in Malaysian Chinese Schools” project at the South Building and held an expert consultation session. The project aims to systematically assess the current status, needs, and challenges of digitalization and AI teaching in Chinese primary schools, national-type Chinese secondary schools, and independent Chinese secondary schools, and to provide recommendations for their development.

Mok Soon Chong: Keeping AI at the Forefront of Chinese Education Innovation

Prof. Dr. Mok Soon Chong, Vice-Chancellor of NEUC, stated that AI and digitalization should become integral components of the educational ecosystem. He noted that Chinese education has previously lacked a comprehensive grasp of AI and digital technologies. “It is no longer enough to simply recognize their importance; we must truly understand and apply them effectively,” he said. He added that NEUC will actively integrate new technologies into teaching and strive for innovation in Chinese education without falling behind.

Jiang Zhaoyu: AI as an Empowering Tool for Education

Mr. Jiang Zhaoyu, Chairman of Lama International, emphasized that Chinese education carries the responsibility of cultural and value transmission. He highlighted that AI is not meant to replace the dedication of educators but to serve as an assistant to teachers and a companion to students through capabilities such as data analytics, personalized recommendations, and natural language processing. He expressed hope that the survey would clarify current applications, identify needs in technology adaptation, teacher training, resource development, and policy support, and generate actionable recommendations. The initiative also aims to explore an intelligent education ecosystem framework suited to the Malaysian context.
