【International Academic and Cultural Exchange Series】Session 4 Dr. Liu Liuhan: "Patterns of the Tang Dynasty: Cultural Genes and Research Paths of Animal Motifs in Textiles”

Organized by New Era University College and coordinated by the Institute of International Education ,the fourth lecture in the " International Academic and Cultural Exchange Series" was held on May 21, 2025. The keynote speaker was Dr. Liu Liuhan from Chongqing Technology and Business University, China. Her lecture was titled "Patterns of the Tang Dynasty: Cultural Genes and Research Paths of Animal Motifs in Textiles." The event attracted nearly eighty attendees, including faculty members, postgraduate students, and members of the general public.

The keynote speaker of this lecture, Dr. Liu Liuhan, is currently a full-time faculty member at the School of Modern International Design and Art, Chongqing Technology and Business University. She holds a bachelor's degree in Fashion Design and Engineering from Sichuan University, a master's degree in Fashion Design from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, Italy, and a Ph.D. in Chinese Studies with a focus on Chinese Art and Aesthetics from New Era University College in Malaysia, where she was awarded for an outstanding doctoral dissertation.

Dr. Liu Liuhan provided a comprehensive interpretation of the cultural connotations and research approaches related to animal and bird motifs in Tang Dynasty textiles. She explored the symbiotic relationship between these motifs and Tang culture, traced their origins, evolution, and symbolism, and examined their connections to religious beliefs of the Tang era. Her insights offered valuable guidance to the students. The lecture was moderated by Associate Professor Dr. Pua Shiau Chen from the Institute of International Education at New Era University College.
