Confucius Home Inaugurated at New Era University College

On 22 September 2025, the Confucius Home was officially inaugurated at New Era University College (NEUC). A delegation from the Nishan World Center for Confucian Studies (Secretariat of the China Confucius Foundation) visited NEUC to witness this historic occasion, which marks the establishment of an important platform for promoting outstanding traditional Chinese culture and injects fresh impetus into educational and cultural exchanges between Malaysia and China.

During the meeting, both sides introduced their institutions’ missions, historical development, and visions for cooperation, and engaged in in-depth discussions on the advancement of Chinese education in Malaysia and the promotion of Chinese culture.

In his address, Ms. Guo Chengyan, Party Secretary and Deputy Director of the Nishan World Center for Confucian Studies, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the China Confucius Foundation, and Vice Chairman of the International Confucian Association, highlighted that since its founding, the Confucius Home has been dedicated to the creative transformation and innovative development of traditional Chinese culture. It has become an important platform for cultural transmission and international exchange.

Prof. Dr. Mok Soon Chong, Vice Chancellor of NEUC, remarked that the establishment of the Confucius Home not only brings new vitality to Chinese education in Malaysia, but also provides students and the wider community with a broader platform for learning and cultural engagement.

Distinguished members of the visiting delegation included Mr. Zhang Min, Director of the General Affairs Department; Ms. Li Qing, Director of the Exchange and Cooperation Department; Mr. Chang Qiang, Deputy Director of the Academic Research and Publications Department; Ms. He Yuan, Senior Translator, General Affairs Department; and Dr. Wang Shengchen, Assistant Researcher, Exchange and Cooperation Department. Representing NEUC were Ms. Lee Yun Xin, Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language; Ms. Phang Hui Ting, Senior Lecturer and Head of the International Student Recruitment Office; Ms. Yap Seow Yu, Head of the Language and Intercultural Centre; Asst. Prof. Dr. Ng Khai Boon, Office of International Academic Exchange; Ms. Joanne Tan Jing Yee, Lecturer, Department of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language; and Ms. Chin Wai Ching, Education Programme Specialist, Department of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language.
