International Students Explore Kuala Lumpur and Sekinchan: A Fulfilling Journey of Nature and Culture

From February 8 to 9, the Institute of International Education organized a two-day, one-night cultural and natural tour to Kuala Lumpur and Sekinchan. The trip aimed to provide international students with an opportunity to immerse themselves in Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty while offering a chance to relax, broaden their horizons, and integrate more deeply into the local culture.

On the first day, the students gathered in Kuala Lumpur before setting off for Jadi Batik, where they experienced the traditional Malaysian art of batik coloring firsthand. Guided by staff members, they carefully selected their preferred patterns and meticulously applied colors with brushes, admiring the distinctive gradient effects of batik craftsmanship. Once their artworks were completed, they proudly showcased their creations and took group photos to commemorate the experience.

In the afternoon, the students visited Sekinchan’s fishing village and Redang Beach, where they relaxed in the gentle sea breeze and took in the village’s natural scenery. They also participated in a lively beach vocabulary game, forming sentences using beach-related English words, making learning both fun and interactive.

Beyond exploring nature and experiencing village life, the students also visited Nan Tian Temple, where they gained insights into the traditional culture and folk beliefs of Malaysian Chinese while learning about the temple’s history and customs. The journey continued to the Sekinchan rice plant factory, where they explored the rice planting and production process. As the trip drew to a close, the students visited Ah Ma’s House, a nostalgic shop filled with vintage items and classic childhood snacks, allowing them to relive the warmth and cherished memories of Malaysian Chinese heritage.

This cultural journey not only provided the students with a firsthand experience of Malaysia’s diverse culture but also deepened their understanding of Chinese traditions and lifestyles, adding a unique and unforgettable chapter to their study abroad experience.
