International Students Enjoy Cultural Adventure in Malaysia

On 21 June 2025, to enhance international students’ understanding and appreciation of Malaysian culture, the Institute of International Education (IIE) of New Era University College hosted its first thematic exchange event for diploma and degree international students — “Malaysia Cultural Monopoly” — at the Ng Ah Choo Multipurpose Hall.

The event attracted 52 international students and adopted a fun-filled “game-based and task-oriented” approach to create an engaging learning environment. Cultural elements, including Malaysian landmarks, traditional games, language challenges, and local cuisine, were thoughtfully incorporated.

Participants formed teams and rolled the dice to advance on the game board, completing cultural tasks along the way — including “Mural Guessing”, “Shuttlecock Kick Challenge”, and “Malay Dialogue Practice” — to earn “Malaysian Ringgit” and compete for the title of “Cultural Tycoon.”

Through this creatively designed experience, students gained memorable insights into places like Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Melaka, and Sabah, while also fostering intercultural understanding and team spirit through hands-on engagement.

At the end of the session, the winning team received prizes as a reward, and all participants were presented with souvenirs.
