From September 22 to 24, 2025, Assoc. During the visit, the delegation paid official visits to Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, Communication University of Zhejiang, Zhejiang Dongfang Polytechnic, and Wenzhou University. The primary aim was to promote educational exchange between Malaysia and China, explore broader opportunities for collaboration, and collectively chart a new chapter for China–Malaysia academic cooperation.
At each institution, both parties introduced their respective educational backgrounds, current developments, and future strategic plans. The meetings centered around potential areas of collaboration, including joint programme development, faculty and student exchanges, and academic research cooperation. During the visit to Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, Ms. Chia Hui Yuan and Mr. Chew Zhao Hong engaged in in-depth discussions on possible collaborations in music education and artistic performance, drawing upon their professional expertise in music and choral conducting to explore future directions of cooperation.
Of particular note, NEUC successfully signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for international cooperation with Zhejiang Dongfang Polytechnic. This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signifies the formal establishment of a partnership between the two institutions, laying a solid foundation for substantial cooperation in curriculum development, academic research, and faculty-student exchanges. It marks a significant step forward in enhancing China–Malaysia educational cooperation.
In addition, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tey Shi Bin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Corporate Development), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lew Siew Boon, Assistant Dean, were invited to deliver keynote speeches at the "International Master Lecture Series". Associate Prof. Dr. Tey Shi Bin presented on the topic "The Mission and Passion of Early Chinese Pioneers and Entrepreneurs in Upholding Chinese Education in Malaysia", offering insights into the historical journey and current state of Chinese education in Malaysia. The speech received an enthusiastic response and deepened the understanding of Malaysian Chinese education among faculty and students in Chinese universities.
This visit not only served as a successful dialogue between Chinese and Malaysian higher education institutions but also strengthened the ties between NEUC and its Chinese counterparts. It opened up new avenues for expanding international academic exchange and cooperation.
