Book Sharing: "How Artificial Intelligence Impacts Teaching: From Assignment Design and Personalized Learning to Innovative Assessment Methods" written by Matt Miller

The Institute of International Education hosted a book talk discussing the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on education. This event featured Dr. Voon Yeun Ting, a senior lecturer from the institute, who led a discussion on the book "How Artificial Intelligence Impacts Teaching: From Assignment Design and Personalized Learning to Innovative Assessment Methods" by Matt Miller. Approximately 40 faculty members and students attended.

Dr. Voon focused on the rapid development of generative AI technologies, particularly the widespread use of AI assistant tools like ChatGPT, and explored the challenges and strategies facing the education sector. She shared 30 practical teaching techniques from the book that leverage generative AI and discussed how educators should adopt an open-minded approach toward students using ChatGPT for personalized learning.

She emphasized that AI-powered tools are an inevitable trend in education, and rather than restricting student usage, the focus should be on guiding them to use these technologies responsibly and ethically. The key lies in preparing students to adapt to an AI-driven future while fostering media literacy and cultivating competent digital citizens.
