Delegation from Xiamen University
On 10 February 2025, a delegation from Xiamen University visited New Era University College (NEUC) for an academic exchange with the aim of strengthening the academic cooperation between the two institutions.
The attendees from Xiamen University included Associate Prof. Dr.Su Junbin (Deputy Dean, School of Journalism and Communication), Ms. Ke Qiumeng (Deputy Secretary, The Youth League Committee, Institute of Creativity and Innovation, Xiamen University) and 18 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students from various departments.
The Attendees from NEUC Included Assistant Prof. Dr. Lew Siew Boon (Head, International Academic Exchange Office), Assistant Prof. Dr. Wong Wai Shee (Head, Department of Chinese Language and Literature), Assistant Prof. Dr. Pek Wee Chuen (Head, Department of Southeast Asian Studies), Associate Prof. Dr. Wang Ruixin (Department Of Teaching Chinese As A Second Language), and Ms. Wong Jing Yin (Education Programme Specialist).
During the meeting, representatives from both universities introduced the history of their respective campuses and shared the spirit of philanthropy in education upheld by Mr. Tan Kah Kee and Mr. Tan Lark Sye. Subsequently, representatives engaged in in-depth discussions on the development of Chinese education in Malaysia and explored opportunities for further collaboration and exchange between the two universities.
After the meeting, representatives from both institutions exchanged souvenirs and took a group photo in front of the administrative building. Following this, the delegation from Xiamen University visited the Tan Lark Sye Library and the Nantah Resourse Centre to gain a deeper understanding of NEUC’s historical origins, founding background, and the development of Chinese education in Malaysia.
