February Semester Orientation Day

As the new semester begins, a new group of international students embarked on their learning journey at New Era University College. On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, the Institute of International Education (IIE) organized the "February 2024 Semester Orientation Day for International Undergraduate and Graduate Students" to welcome the new students.

Head of International Academic Exchange Office, Assistant Professor Dr. Liew Siew Boon, welcomed the new students and shared her experiences and advice on studying abroad. She noted that while studying abroad is challenging, it is also an opportunity for growth. Furthermore, she encouraged students to seek help from the IIE whenever they face academic or personal difficulties.

Besides that, Head of Language and Intercultural Centre, Ms. Yap Seow Yu, and Education Programme Specialist, Wong Jing Yin, explained the course content to the new students and introduced the IIE team. Ms. Yap encouraged the new students to practice foreign languages and find joy in their studies despite challenges. The session concluded with the new students introducing themselves to foster interaction and communication.

Head of International Student Service Centre, Ms. Lee Hui Wen, shared information on Malaysia's diverse culture and language features, as well as important safety tips for studying and living in Malaysia. She demonstrated Malay greetings and encouraged the new students to broaden their social circles and engage with local cultures.

The IIE provided local specialty pastries and snacks for everyone to enjoy on the day of the event. In a cheerful and relaxed atmosphere, staff and students took a group photo, creating wonderful memories of the Orientation Day and setting a positive and hopeful tone for the new students' study abroad experience.
