Orientation and Academic Achievement Presentation Day for Undergraduate and Graduate International Students
New Era University College's Institute of International Education (IIE) held an orientation and academic achievement presentation for undergraduate and graduate international students on September 28, 2022, from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM in Classroom B309. The event welcomed 19 undergraduate and graduate international students, including new students who joined in September 2022.
Dean of IIE, Associate Professor Dr. Tey Shi Bin, delivered a sincere speech advising international students to be mindful of their safety while abroad. She highlighted the importance of carrying essential documents such as passports and student IDs when going out and recommended avoiding complex entertainment venues. Dr. Tey also encouraged the students to concentrate on their studies and participate in school activities, fostering connections with local students to enrich their study abroad experience.
Furthermore, the President of the Overseas Student Association, Zheng Zhiming, encouraged new students to join the association's executive committee to collaboratively plan and organize various activities. Yuan Cheng, a freshman from the Chinese Department from Shandong, China, expressed his desire to broaden his horizons during his study abroad and emphasized the importance of mutual support and care among classmates. The ice-breaking activities created a lively atmosphere, allowing students to get to know each other and foster closer relationships instantly.
Additionally, the academic achievement presentation aims to identify and address the academic challenges faced by international students. Due to time constraints, the presentation will be conducted in a written format. This enables the Institute of International Education to provide customized advice and support based on the students' academic needs.
