Welcome New Era College Comes to Tamkang

On April 11, 2012, Dr. MOK Soon Chong, Principal, New Era College, Malaysia, made a goodwill visit to Tamkang University’s Tamsui Campus.

The New Era College was founded by The Chinese School Committee and School Teacher Associations in 1997 and funded by local Chinese associations. The College is located in Selangor in Malaysia. At present, New Era College has four schools, including the School of Business, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the School of Media and Creative Arts and the School of Sciences. In the past, New Era College has sent exchange students to our Department of Chinese Literature. As of 2011, TKU has offered a scholarship to assist New Era College students in paying their tuition.

On arriving at the Tamsui Campus, the guests first watched an introductory DVD about Tamkang University. They then visited the Chueh-sheng Memorial Library, the Chinese Palace-style Classrooms, and the TKU Maritime Museum. After the campus tour, the guests participated in a discussion hosted by Dr. Wan-chin Tai, the TKU Vice President for International Affairs, and had a lively discussion with deans and professors from various TKU faculties. At noon, the guests joined a luncheon hosted by the President of Tamkang University, Dr. Flora Chia-I Chang, at the Regalees Hotel, Tamsui.
