New Era University College (NEUC) held an online talk with a topic “Using Large-Scale Datasets in Educational and Social Science Research” on December 3,2023. The talk was organised by the Institute of International Education NEUC and was specially invited by Associate Professor Guan Saw from Claremont Graduate University. The keynote speaker explores the opportunities and challenges of using big data in education and social science research. The speaker also discussed the steps, techniques, and software used to analyse big data, and provided examples of the use of big data in education and social science research.

Dr. Guan Saw is an associate professor in the Institute of Educational Studies at Claremont Graduate University. Dr. Guan Saw’s research focuses on diversity, equity, and inclusion in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education and career development, STEM mentorship and social capital, and college access and success. He teaches courses on educational inequality, sociology of education, and quantitative research methods.
